Highway closed after fresh rains, snowfall

Srinagar: The traffic authorities on Thursday decided not to allow an fresh traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway due to continuous rains and snow en-route the thoroughfare, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of world. “Traffic movement stopped on Jammu Srinagar Highway due to heavy raining/snowing, subject to fair weather/clearance of road, only stranded vehicles shall be allowed,” a traffic department official said.
He said people are advised to undertake journey on the highway only after confirming status of the road from traffic control rooms.
