5 lakh homeless people in J&K to get permanent shelter: Union Minister

Kupwara: District Adminstration Kupwara on Tuesday airlifted three patients from Keran Sector of District kupwara for advanced medical treatment as road to the area is under closure for over two weeks now.

“We had received a communication from Keran Sector regarding three patients who were in dire need of medical attention following which, this afternoon all the patients were airlifted and are undergoing treatment,” DC kupwara Khalid Jahangir said.

It’s pertinent to mention that, Keran Sector is cut from main town Kupwara for two weeks since the spell of heavy snowfall closed the only road connecting the area.

The residents have appealed the district administration to reopen the road for vehicular movement as there is dire crunch of commodities in the far flung area and people needing medical attention are suffering.

Locals said that last night a pregnant lady after giving birth to a baby died.

Jehangir claimed that the lady was not in the list of the requisition they had received.

“She had died of natural causes and not because she was not air lifted,” DC said.
