Anantnag: Irritated at the lackadaisical approach of the government in providing electricity to consumers residents of Brakpora Anantnag village locked a power receiving station of Power Development Department (PDD) while protesting against the government.

Inhabitants of Brakpora village locked down the receiving station of Bulbul Nowgam and held protest against the PDD Department in Anantnag and blocked main road of Anantnag to Achabal Shangas road.

Villagers accused the higher authorities for ignoring their plights, and said that unscheduled power cuts in the area have forced them to take the extreme step and to hit streets.

“We are continuously pleading before the higher ups in this regard while the authorities assured us to redress their grievance but the promises done by the authorities proved hoax,” protesters said.

“If the unnecessary power cuts won’t end, we will block the national highway to protest against the department,” they said.

They later appealed District commissioner and Chief Engineer of PDD Anantnag to personally intervene into the matter so that they can have a sigh of relief.
