Bodies of two hunters found under snow avalanche in Lolab

Srinagar: Bodies of two hunters , who were swept away by a snow avalanche in Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district yesterday, have been “spotted and are being recovered,” by rescuers, officials said on Thursday.
As reported already, three persons left home early on Wednesday morning for hunting in nearby Rang Warnow forest area. One of them returned by evening and informed the police and administration that there was a snow avalanche in area were two other persons had gone for hunting. He said there was a possibility that they might be swept away by the avalanche as he could not found them.
Following the information, local police and army launched a rescue operation to trace the duo, they said.
The missing were identified as Bashir Ahmad Hajam son of Mohd Younis and Mamdin Hajam son Najamdin of Ring Warnow.
“Bodies have been found and are being recovered,” official said. The rescue was jointly launched by police and army.
Three hunters—Bashir Ahmad, Ghulam Mohammad, and Mohammad Altaf—died after they came under avalanche near Guchibal Behak in the LoLab on February 24 last year. Their Bodies were recovered by the army after six days.
