Bandipora: Sanctioned 9 years ago, the 100-bed District hospital in the Bandipora district is yet to be completed even after Rs 22 crore  of total Rs 28.24 Crores have been utilized so far.

The foundation stone for the Hospital was laid in the year 2010.

“District Hospital was to be built on an estimated cost of Rs 28.24 Crores out of which Rs 22 crore have been utilized so far and the executing agency has missed three deadlines till now,” sources told INS, adding that it seems unlikely that the hospital will be completed this year owing to slow pace of work.

The Present Hospital, OPD and other sections are running from a tin sheds which is not even of SDH status, lacking proper space due, sources confided.

“Space constraint is also hampering the overall functioning of the hospital and patient care,” sources added.

The old building, they said, is insufficient to cater to the huge rush of patients that visit the hospital every day.

Locals allege that the political meddling has also played its role in the delay of completion of project.

DC Bandipora Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary told INS that the hospital building is almost complete and will be functional in the first week of February.

“Partial operations will start in first week of February and remaining technical work will continue in supervision of medicos there,” Chowdhary added.
