357 New Cases Take J&K’s Tally To 10513

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday reported 357 new covid-19 infections, taking the overall tally of the cases in J&K to 10513.
Officials said 62 of the news cases were reported from Jammu division and 295 from the Valley.
Giving district wise breakup of the cases, sources said Srinagar reported 97, Ganderbal 40, Baramulla 31, 29 each in Budgam and Bandipora, Kupwara 25, Samba 20, Jammu 15, 13 each in Kulgam and Shopian, Pulwama 11, seven each in Anantnag and Ramban, Kathua 8, Rajouri 6, Doda 4 and one each in Udhampur and Kishtwar.
The cases include two pregnant women, five from BB CANT Srinagar, five men from 45 Bn CRPF Sumbal Bandipora, five policemen, four from C.H BSF Srinagar, one from 46 Bn CRPF Anantnag, one from CRPF Magam Budgam and three from 51SSB UNDP Nowshera here.
Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS Soura said that out of 2017 samples which were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital today, 116 returned positive for the virus.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura said that 32 are from Srinagar, 22 from Bandipora, 18 from Budgam, 15 from CRPF, nine from Kulgam, six each from Anantnag and Pulwama, three from Baramulla, two from Shopian besides one each from Ganderbal, Kupwara and Doda.
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina said that out of 541 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 28 tested positive for COVID-19 including 17 from Sinagar and 11 from Shopian
Moreover 84 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals—five from Jammu Division and 79 from Kashmir Valley.
“People are informed that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap & water and following good respiratory etiquettes & hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places & workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory,” government said, adding, “Early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease, let us be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us.”
Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk, government said.
“In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline No.s and seek medical advice,” government said, adding, “Unless absolutely necessary don’t step out of home, stay indoors. If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent hand washing with soap and water.”
