Anantnag: The residents of various areas in Anantnag district are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for ‘failing to provide adequate electricity in their areas.
’Inhabitants of various areas including Ashajipora Kamad, Chrichri pora, Lalan, Brinty, Dialgam, Bonadialgam Hakura, Koshipora, Saudara and Rahoo held protest and blocked main road of Anantnag to verinag kokernag road accused the higher authorities for ignoring their plights and were demanding complete redressal of their genuine grievance. 
The residents of said areas told INS that the Power Development Department (PDD) is subjecting them to unscheduled power cuts in the scorching heat. Residents said that with the unscheduled power cuts in the area, the people are being forced to take to streets.
“We are continuously pleading before the higher ups in this regard while the authorities assured us to redress their grievance but the promises done by the authorities proved hoax,”
They said that they are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of electricity in their area. “The authorities have miserably failed to provide adequate electricity especially in the evening hours thereby leaving us to lurch at large,” the residents threatening to stage protests against PDD department, the residents said, “If the unnecessary power cuts won’t end, we will block the national highway to protest against the department. They later appealed Chief Engineer of PDD to personally intervene into the matter and redress their genuine demands at earliest.
