Srinagar: Police on Wednesday unearthed a major ration scam and arrested the accused who would repack the government supply of Rice, and flour to be sold in the name of ‘Apple Brand’.

Officials said that they have arrested one accused from Srinagar’s Bemina area and identified him as Bilal Ahmad Nath R/o Bilal Colony Bemina.

“He was selling rice (govt supply) after repacking the same in fake Apple Brand bags,” officials said, adding that they had received the complaint on

on January 15.

Police raided the place and arrested the accused and seized  74 bags of rice (govt supply) & 02 bags of atta flour.

The official said that in this connection FIR  No 13/2019 P/S Parimpora u/s 409,420,120b RPC was registered & investigation taken up.
