Kulgam: Insha Satara from Pombai village of Kulgam district bagged a gold medal in 55kg category from 64th SGFI National Level Belt Wrestling U-19 Belagavi, Karnataka.
The U-19 Boys and Girls Championship was organised by Lingaraj P.U.College of Arts and Commerce, Belagavi.
Daughter of a laborer, Insha is her 11th class and studies in Govt. Higher Secondary School Kulgam.
Her mother is a house wife.
The two day championship commenced on Januray 7, and was
was supported by School Games Federation Of India (SGFI).
According to Insha, 15 states participated in the championship including Punjab, Manipur, Delhi, Bengaluru, and J&K .
“I am thankful to Almighty Allah for bestowing me with a such grand success,” she said, while dedicating her success to parents and teachers.
“I have been practicing in Belt Wrestling for 4 years now and this medal has come as a booster to my hardwork, my coaches’ hardwork. I will have to work hard to be in international matches,” she confided.
Insha has already won bronze Medal at 63rd National School Games 2017-18 in Belt Wrestling Girls U-19 in (Hyderabad) Telangana on 13-1-2018 to 16-1-2018.
“I was trained under my coaches Mohd Akbar and Bashir Ahmad,” she said, adding that she also pays her due thanks to
DDC Kulgam Shamim Ahmad Wani Ahmad for supporting her.
Ab Satar Najar her father, laborer by profession told INS that her daughter has made both the parents proud.
“Despite many difficulties she had, Insha never failed to pursue her dreams and I never stopped her. Daughters are Gods grace upon parents and today she has proven that,” Najar said.
