Elderly woman dies while travelling amid snowfall in Tangdhar

Kupwara: A 75-year-old woman allegedly died due to cold while travelling towards Tangdhar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday evening.
The sumo vehicle she was travelling in got stuck at Sadhna Top while it’s snowing. All the passengers including the woman de-boarded it and started travel by foot. The woman collapsed midway near Khoni Nallah, a police officials told INS.
The road connecting Tanghdar with Kupwara was thrown open yesterday and witnessed fresh snowfall along with entire Valley today.
The deceased has been identified as Taja begum (75) wife of Abdul Qayoom Khawaja resident of Teethwal.
The road connecting Tanghdar with Kupwara has been closed for vehicle movement for two days amid fresh snowfall, said Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jehnagir.
Last year in January, 11 person died when their vehicle came under snow avalanche at Sadhna top.
