Famous locally for their vocals, two south Kashmir youth decry poverty, official apathy towards youth

Anantnag: Shoib Hassan a talented singer famous among locals for his voice in Anantnag District of South Kashmi thinks if boys like him are groomed, helped and funded by government they could  change their lifestyle.

“The youth here lacks basic resources and are not getting actually what they deserve due to poverty,” Hassan said.

Hassan a resident of Bonadialgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag District which is about 3 kms from main town Anantnag is famous among various locality who believe he has a good voice.

Hassan sings Kashmiri and Bollywood songs to appease people and some times on demand.

Hassan Belongs to a middle class family had recently completed his graduation while talking to the INS said that the usual obstacle is poverty and lack of resources to reach the destination and the negligence of government attention to support them.

Another boy Mushtaq Ahmad Wani hails from Shangas Wani Mohalla in south Kashmir area of Anantnag District is very famous in their locality for his singing and writes at times his own songs.

Mushtaq, a graduate, lost his parent’s when he was five year old.

His mother first died due to brief illness after a year Mushtaq’s father also died due to cancer.

Mushtaq has two sisters and both are now married.

According to Mushtaq the most upsetting effect of their talent is poverty and none to guide them.

Mushtaq lives with one of the married elder sister at Shangas and works as a labor to continue his studies and earn livelihood.

“The poverty and government’s negligence resulted in killing many dreams of Kashmiri,” Mushtaq complained.

Talking to the INS Mushtaq Said that after he passed 8th standard  he begun writing poetry and singing.
