5 Srinagar boys who left home to join militant ranks ‘rescued’: Police

Srinagar: Five boys who left their homes on Monday and called families that they are joining militant ranks were rescued within hours, police said on Monday.
“Parents of some boys from Srinagar reported to Police that they received phone calls from their kids who had left for their school in morning informing that they are going to join the (militant) ranks,” a police spokesperson said, adding, “To ensure quick and timely action, Srinagar police constituted a special team and with the help of families strenuous efforts led to tracing of all the five missing boy.”
He said that boys were brought back safely. “It is learnt that the boys were threatening to join militancy whereas no active association of these boys could be found with any outfit.”
Later, the spokesperson said the five boys were counselled and handed over to the parents. “Timely information and efforts of family played a key role in this endeavour,” the spokesperson added.
