Srinagar: The Joint Resistance Leadership on Saturday appealed people to hold a candle light vigil and torch processions on November 25 after Magrib prayers against the “ongoing killing spree in Kashmir.”
The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and incarcerated Muhammad Yasin Malik strongly condemns the “barbarism let loose against the people of Kashmir” by government forces .
“The gruesome killing of civilians Ishfaq Ahmad, a carpenter by profession who was shot dead on spot on mere suspicion of passing by a bunker, and young Muskan Jan pumped with bullets in her abdomen during a protest, wrings at our hearts and deeply grieves the nation,” the JRL said, adding, “It is extremely sad that GOI has no compunction in allowing such inhumanity to continue by giving unbridled powers to its forces to kill innocent people are day in and out.”
The JRL said with these two murders this year alone more than 400 Kashmiri’s have been killed.
“It clearly reflects that New Delhi believes in a policy of military might to suppress Kashmiris and their aspirations.”
The leadership said that the world community has to break its silence in the face of such oppression and urge government of India to stop these unabated killing and put a halt to its military approach.
The leadership said that the policy of targeting pro-freedom leadership by the state continues and that the killing of TeH leaders Mir Hafizullah is a serious assault.
The leadership said that such tactics will have no bearing either on the peoples movement or Leaderships resolve in supporting it.
The leadership said while they condemn any killing, the arrest of two women on mere suspicion in connection with the killing of two BJP leaders in Kishtwar terming it vindictive and authoritarian. The leadership also expressed its serious concern over the mounting pressure on the Muslim community in Kishtwar after the killing of two BJP leaders .
While demanding the immediate release of two women arrested in Kishtwar, stating that the resistance leadership would never favour murder of a person just for his political or ideological belief but the way Muslims of Kishtwar belt are being harassed, is no way to catch culprits .
