Sopore: Chankhan area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district hit roads on Wednesday as authorities, according to them, have suspended electricity supply to the area from past one week.
Reports said that scores of people including women blocked Sopore-Baramulla Highway at Chankhan, raising slogans against the PDD department.
“They were calling for restoration of power supply in the area at earliest,” eyewitnesses said.
Reports said that large number of vehicles, remained stranded on both sides of the highway creating difficulties for thousands of people, including women and children.
Meanwhile a team of police reached the spot and assured protestors that they will take up the issue with higher authorities.
