Srinagar: There has been no word from governor Satya Pal Malik on Kulgam killings even as his advisor and incharge of state’s home department K.Vijay Kumar and Director General of Police Dilbag Singh expressed “regret” and “deep anguish” over “tragic incident” on Sunday.
It is not the case also that governor chooses not to speak when his advisor makes statement on any tragic incident like road accident or any other incident in the state.
Seven civilians were killed, six of them in a blast near encounter site left unsanitized by the government forces, while another one was killed in use of live ammunition by the government forces.
Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti (KPSS), an organization of Kashmir Pandits, while extending support to shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership against the killing of the civilians had underlined that it’s mandatory for security forces to sanitize the area where encounter happens to safe guard the lives of the civilians. “It seems that the security forces take these basic things casually, which resulted in (Sunday’s) incident in which (seven) civilians got killed and nearly 43 persons got severely injured,” said Sanjay K. Tickoo, President of the KPSS, in the statement.
Advisor to the Governor K Vijay Kumar and the Director General Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh expressed “deep anguish and regret” over the loss of civilian lives in the blast near the encounter site in Laroo, Kulgam, according to an official spokesman issued here on Sunday. However, there was no word regarding any action against those who allowed area to be unsanitized.
In a joint statement, Kumar and Singh also expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost their near and dear ones “in this tragic incident.”
They said, as per the reports, the civilians rushed to the site after the encounter was over, resulting in casualties in the blast as the “area was yet to be sanitized”. They also urged the civilians to avoid such sites till properly sanitised.
