Srinagar: Javed Ahmad Lone, one among the seven victims of “mayhem” in Kulgam on Sunday,  was laid to rest amid emotional scenes at his native Hawora village on Monday.

Javed Ahmed Lone son of Mohammad Ibrahim Lone was identified late on Sunday night and could not be buried like six other victims on Sunday.

Amid emotional scene, thousands of people turned up in his funeral prayers early on Monday. Amid pro-freedom slogans, Javed was laid to rest at his native Hawora village in the south Kashmir district.

Javed’s body was kept in mortuary in the Kulgam hospital for identification for several hours amid internet and mobile telephone blockade by the authorities.

  1. The other six civilians who were killed in blast and firing were laid to rest yesterday. They included Ubaid Shah, Tajamul, Irshad Ahmad Padder, Uzair Ahmad Masroor Ahmad and Auqib Ahmad Sheikh. All of them were laid to rest with thousands of people participating in their funeral. Also , thousands of people participated in the funeral of the three slain militants— Shahid Ahmad Tantary son of Abdul Rashid Tantary of Wangam Shopian, Zubair Ahmad Lone son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone of Ahwatoo Kulgam and Yazil Ahmad Makroo son of Mushtaq Ahmad of Arwani Bijbehara.
