Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday disallowed the Class 11 students to protest in Press Enclave in Srinagar and sought permission from the agitating students.
A student told INS that dozens of students of various schools including the Tyndale Biscoe School, SP Higher Secondary School, Green Valley Educational Institute and other schools assembled in press enclave Srinagar to protest against the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education’s decision to hold the examinations October.
The students said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who were already deployed outside Press Enclave did not allow them to protest.
“Almost six students were put in a police vehicle and were taken to the Directorate of School Education Office.”
They said that the police sought a written permission from them to hold protest in press colony or Partap Park.
Aghast with the government decision to start exams from October, the students of class 11th have repeatedly for the last several days staged protest in Srinagar and other districts demanding deferment of exams till mid-November.
