JAMMU: A team of Motor vehicle department charged Rs 6.20 lakh fine from traffic violators in a single day in Jammu division of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Around 48 vehicles were compounded under section 66/192 of MV Act, 05 vehicles were compounded under section 177 of MV act, and 3 vehicles were compounded under section 190(ii) PUC and COTPA, 2003,” officials said on Monday

The official handout said that a number of goods carriage vehicles transporting fruit from Kashmir to other parts of the country were also checked and 3 indulging in overloading the fruit in excess to the permitted load were booked under section 113/194.
