Locals have blocked the bridge at Saidapora and a fleet of trucks with garbage has been halted on Soura road.

Residents blame authorities of playing a cruel joke with their lives.

“Time and again we appealed to authorities to shift the site as not only is foul smell irritating the residents but the water table of the area too has been hit badly,” Ishtiyaq Ahmad Magray,  a resident claimed.

They claim that the SMC is trying to accure more land to extent the boundaries of dumping yard.  We won’t allow that,” they said.

Police and SMC officials are on the spot but the thaw has not ended since morning.

Ex Cabinet Minister Khemlata Wakhloo has joined the protesting residents and said that the grievance of locals are genuine and authorities should listen to them.
