SSA teachers call off month long strike after govt’s decision to implement seventh pay commission in their favour

Srinagar:  As the state decided to implement seventh pay commission in favour of protesting SSA teachers and a visit to them by Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ganei,  they called off their strike.

Since September 4  the Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers were on an indefinite hunger strike in Srinagar in to press the government over their demands.

Earlier, the government had constituted a Committee headed by Principal Secretary Finance to look into the grievances of teachers, in particular the SSA Teachers.

Dozens of SSA teachers were since on hunger strike and sit-in at Srinagar here to demand implementation of 7th pay commission in favour of SSA, RMSA teachers and masters and delinking of their salaries from MHRD to state sector.
