Srinagar: Authorities on Friday placed Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention.

A spokesperson of the amalgam said that the Mirwaiz has been detained at his Nigeen residence.

Mirwaiz, according to the spokesperson was scheduled to address an Ashura sermon at Alam Sahab Narwara.
