Jhajjar highway attack: Escaped militants tracked, holed up in a house near Mata Veshnodevi Uni

Jammu: Militants that had escaped from highway after attacking naka party have been tracked in residential house at Kakriyal area near MataVaishnoDevi University.

According to sources the forces are evacuating area of locals before gunfire erupts between the two sides.

Forces were continuing its search for the escaped militants who fled from Jammu Srinagar Highway at Jhajjar of Udhampur district yesterday after opening fire at a Naka Party.

The Search operation we’re being jointly carried out by the army, police and the Central Reserve Police Force in the forests of Jhajar and adjoining areas.

Reports said that to track down militants forces are using drones, helicopters and other surveillance gadgets.

While vehicular movement on the highway between Nagrota-Jhajar Kotli has been suspended, authorities have ordered schools in the area to remain shut.

The three militants were on a truck when they fired at the two victims. They then abandoned the vehicle and vanished into the thick bushy forest. The police has detained the driver and helper of the truck.

The truck in which the Militants were allegedly being carried is registered in Islamabad (Anantnag) district. Police arrested a BSc Nursing student and a truck driver, identified as Mohammad Iqbal, resident of Pakharpora, Budgam, a BSc Nursing student and Riyaz Ahmad, a resident of Hajin, Pulwama, Riyaz’s brother was a Militant
