Scores of the employees which include non gazetted and technical staff assembled at the premises of the hospital and registered their protest. Chanting slogans the employees demanded the release of their colleague Syed Shakeel Ahmad, son of Syed Salahuddin, a resident of Srinagar.

On August 30, 2018, Shakeel was arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Rambagh area of Srinagar. He was later taken to Delhi by NIA for the questioning.

Shakeel is a senior lab technician by profession and is posted at SKIMS, Soura. Shakeel is the elder son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin. In October last year, the probe agency arrested Salahuddin’s second son Syed Shahid Yousuf and since then he is lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
