Arricle 35 A: Amid restrictions, protest, valley shuts on JRL call

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in the valley and some parts of Pir Panchal area on the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against ‘attempts to abrogate Article 35 A’.

JRL comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for two day shutdown on August 30 and 31 for protection of Article 35A.

All shops, business establishments and Schools are closed in the valley while as transport is off the roads.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in areas under the jurisdiction of Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, MR Gunj and Safa Kadal police stations.

“Areas under Kralkhud and Maisuma police stations will have partial restrictions imposed  on Thursday and Friday,” they added.

Civil Society and the Trader’s Federation Bandipora took out a protest rally, scores of there  members assembled at Gulshan Chowk here.

In Budgam the drivers association  took out a peaceful protest rally.

Under the banner of Shalimar Sumo Stand the drivers assembled in the main stand and took out a scheduled really and marched up-to the main Chowk Magam.

In Real Members of the civil society Tral, citizens council Tral and others joined their protest over Article 35 A row as well.

A bunch of petitions had challenged Article 35A in the Supreme Court. A three-judge bench of the apex court is scheduled to hear the case on Friday.

Jammu and Kashmir government has moved apex court to adjourn the hearing of the case citing upcoming Panchayat polls as reason.
