Ahead of Eid-ul-Zuha: Animal markets in Anantnag bustling, officials inspect fined Rs 7650

Anantnag: As Eid-ul-Zuha approaches, animal markets in Anantnag town are bustling with people on Sunday buying sacrificial animals to mark the festival on Wednesday.

The sacrificial animals being sold at the Anantnag stadium were sheep, goats was available for sold.

On the directions of District commissioner Anantnag Mohd Younis Malik a team of officials headed by ADDC Anantnag, Food Department officials, Revenue officials and police officials who was on spot to  inspect and sold these sacrifices animals in Anantnag Stadium as per state government rates. The officials also fined of Rs 7650 from postures and airing shopkeepers in District.

The District administration has directed the Directorate of Sheep Husbandry to set up sheep and goat sale centers at Mehandi kadal and Anantnag stadium for the convenience of people.

However State government has recently fixed rates for these sacrificial animals,

Meanwhile people from various villages in Anantnag appreciate to the District commissioner Anantnag for this necessary action.

Eid-ul-Adha is one of the two major Muslim festivals and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son. The festival is celebrated by offering congregational prayers, sacrificing an animal and distributing its meat among the neighbours, relatives and poor.

While mostly sheep and goat are sacrificed in Kashmir on Eid, in rare instances, some also prefer to sacrifice camel.
