Police arrests quack ‘orthopedic’ doctor in Pattan

Sopore: Police on Wednesday arrested a quack doctor in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district for allegedly causing many complications to the patients due to his botched-up treatment.
Claiming to be an orthopedic doctor, the quack— ‘Dr. Tariq Ahmad Teli’ was “practicing” at Sopore, Bandipora, Kupwara, Handwara, Hadarbeigh, source said.
They said, Dr. Tariq Ahmed have fake MBBS, DNB and MS degrees. He would charge Rs 1000 as entry fee and other Rs 1000 for medication, they said. Many people who sought advice from Tariq are now bearing the harmful consequences and many patients got some serious health issues, they said.
Station House Officer Pattan told INS that ‘fake’ doctor Tariq Ahmad Teli was arrested following complaints against him. “Further investigations are underway,” the officer said.
Chief Medical Officer Baramulla had also constituted a team after news started doing rounds about the practicing by the quack.
Few days ago, INS contacted the alleged quack and he claimed to have completed MBBS from Bangalore and MS from Karnataka University.
According to his neighbours, Tariq even failed to pass 10th class examination. When INS posed same query, he dropped the call.
