Baramulla :The beneficiaries who have constructed toilets under Sawach Baharat Mission (SBM) in frontier tehsil Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are awaiting construction cost from past several months.
The inhabitants who were asked to construct toilet points by Department of Rural Development Department said that they completed all the official formalities and constructed toilets at their own expenses but after passing of six months they are yet to recieve the money.
The complaints were recieved from far flung villages of Hathlanga, Soora, Mothal, Silikote and Balkote villages in Uri tehsil.
Mohammad Shaban told INS  that the department sanctioned the construction of toilet point and an amount of Rs.12000 was also sanctioned. He said that they are moving from pillar to post to get it released but unfortunately the concerned officials are not taking the issue seriously.
Pertinently, the Swach Baharat Mission was aimed to achieve sanitation in the country and was launched by Government Of India.
The construction of toilets was aimed to stop open defecation especially in the rural areas.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Uri Mohammad Shafi Shiekh said that due to non-availability of funds the money was not released so far in some areas.
He assured that the money will be released within a weeks time.
Locals  appealed the concerned officials to release the money without any further delay.
