Injured in BSF firing, Sopore student succumbs to injures after fortnight

Srinagar: An eleventh class student, injured critically in government forces action at Nadihal Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on June 25, succumbed to injuries at a hospital here.

The student, Ubaid Manzoor Lone son of Manzoor Ahmad suffered a critical bullet injured after paramilitary BSF personnel from 149 battalion opened fire upon a group of students.

A doctor at SKIMS, the Valley’s only tertiary care hospital here, confirmed that Ubaid succumbed to at around 5 a.m.

The BSF had opened fire on a group of students who were protesting against the killing of youth in south Kashmir and against “planned genocide of Kashmiris by Indian state” on a call given by joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik.
