Anantnag: Miffed over the ‘callous’ attitude of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in Anantnag, the villagers of Thajiwara, Kulgad and other adjoining villages took to the streets and protested against the PHE authorities in south kashmir’s Anantnag.

Talking to the INS , Javaid Ahmad, a resident of Thajiwara area told that we are being deprived of water facility and despite repeated requests neither the concerned department nor the administration bothered to sort our hardships.

He said that at least 1 crore water supply scheme is totally fail dozens of villages without water from last 15 days. The work is pending from last five months and people suffer a lot of problem of water he added.

“We are forced to cover a distance of almost a kilometre to fetch drinking water from tube wells,” another villager, Fayaz Ahmad said. “Sometimes we use water from the ponds which puts our health at great risk.”
