Shopian: Sara Begum, a widow and mother of active militant Nawaz Ahmad Wagay appealed his son to return home.
“I have already lost my husband. I don’t want to lose my son,” she said. “My son took this decision without knowing the consequences. l took lot of pains to his studies and whole family is in deep trauma.”
A resident of Rebon village of shopian in south Kashmir , Wagay joined militant group, Al-Badr.
She said her neighbours informed family about Wagay’s photograph having gone viral on social media with AK-47 riffle. “He will take such a step was never expected,” she said, adding, “Militants are also my sons like him I would be thankful if they would allow him to come back home.”
Wagay is a postgraduate student in Urdu and he remained a brilliant student throughout his career.
On 1 June 2018, Wagay didn’t come at iftiyaar and the family started to grow anxious and started to search for him. “In the meantime, a woman came running towards us and said you have seen the photograph of Nawaz. I was shocked to see my brother in Army fatigue wielding an Ak- 47 riffle,” said Wagay’s brother, Ishfaq Ahmad.
“We are orphans. We lost father to conflict and we don’t want to lose our brother. We are shattered about his decision.”
