Jammu: Two soldiers of Border Security Forces were killed and three civilians were injured on Sunday as the armies of India and Pakistan traded heavy fire and shelling in Pargwal sector of Akhnoor sector along the International Border in Jammu.
BSF officials said Pakistan Rangers targeted a BSF post in the area around 2.00 am. “In the firing, an assistant sub-inspector of BSF, S N Yadav (ASI) and another trooper constable V K Pandey were injured. Both of them succumbed to their injuries later, they said.
Sources said heavy shelling was also going on in RS pora sector and some civilian areas were also hit.
The fresh exchange of fire comes barely a week after the DGMOs of India and Pakistan agreed to implement 2003 ceasefire agreement on the border.
