Reasi: The teams of Legal Meteorological Department (LMD) have charged Rs 104700 fine from erring traders during market checking in various parts of the district.

On the orders of Deputy Commissioner, the market checking was conducted to check rate and quality of edibles on the eve of holy month of Ramadan.

The teams conducted intensive market checking at Reasi, Katra, Pouni, Bhamla and adjoining areas. A cement manufacturer based at Samba was fined Rs.25000 for supplying cement bags less in weight.

Four brands of Edible Oil were booked for error in net quantity and violation of mandatory declarations. The manufacturers were charged a fine of Rs 28000.The Department also booked one flour mill, one pickle unit, three petrol pumps and ten provisional stores for violation of various provisions of weights and Measures Laws.
