Ganderbal: Some people in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district locked several schools, demanding job in lieu of the land “donated” by them.
Reports said that land owners of government school buildings locked a number of primary and middle schools, affecting the normal studies of the students.
The land owners claimed that they have donated lands for the construction of the schools after the government promised them “permanent jobs in these institutions.”
One of the land owners of government middle school Ramwari Gund in Hariganwan Zone said that “he will not open the lock until authorities provide a job to his son.”
Land owners said that government has failed to provide them job or any other compensation till date, forcing them to lock the schools.
When contacted, Chief Education Officer Ganderbal Sheikh Gayas-ud-Din told INS that no promise such as land in lieu of job has been made by the government to them.
“This is uncalled and their action has led to loss of precious time of students. They are playing with the future of the students which is unacceptable,” he said, adding, “There are hundreds of schools and most of people realize importance of education and does to resort to means which are unacceptable. There is a small group of people in entire district which have taken resort to such unacceptable means which has led loss of precious time of the students.”
He said that if people have any issues, they can contact him so that he can take up the same with concerned quarters.
“I am writing to Director School Education Kashmir today over the issues,” he added.
