Shopian: On call or Joint Resistance Leadership complete shutdown is being observed  here on Tuesday in remembrance of Asiya and Neelofar, who were allegedly raped and murdered in 2009.
According or INS Shopian correspondent all shops, business establishments and educational institutions are closed and the traffic is off the roads.

Bodies of Asiya, (17) and Neelofar (22), the dead bodies of the sisters-in-law were recovered from the banks of the stream, day after, May 29, 2009, the duo had gone to their small orchard.

While the family and locals alleged and still claim that they were raped and murdered by the government forces,  the CBI probe by the Omar Abdullah government that time declared that the young ladies had died due to drowning in ankle deep water of Ranbi Ara. Family still alleges that the CBI inquiry was a cover up to save the guilty and justice was never served.

The incident took over valley and massive protests erupted across valley.

Locals still believe and allege that SSP Shopian that time javid iqbal was one of the culprits behind the case and he destroyed evidence later.
