Jammu: Authorities have launched a major  fire fighting operation in Rajouri area of Jammu division of the state of Jammu and kashmir after forest fires which had erupted earlier could not be put under control despite hard efforts and is not entering populated areas.

Officials told INS that Army and SDRF teams have been pressed into operation and the fire fighting operation is going on.

Prior to the Rajouri forests going up in flames Trikuta hills too were engulfed in fire. Indian Air force was brought in by the authorities who played a major role in dousing the fires.

According to authorities dry weather has played a part in forest fires.
