Tourist Dies in Stone pelting, Mehbooba, Omar, Mirwaiz condemn

Srinagar: A tourist from Chennai, died and a girl from Handwara was injured after they came under stone pelting on Srinagar-Gulmarg road near Narbal on Monday. Chie Minister Mehbooba Mufti, NC president Omar Abdullah and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned it.
Police sources said that some vehicles came under stone pelting, resulting into injuries to two of them who were referred to police hospital for treatment.
One of them identified as R Thirumany (22) son of Rajwali of Chennai succumbed to injuries. The injured girl has been identified as Sabreena (19) from Handwara.
A police officer said that these persons came under pelting.
“We have registered a case under FIR Number 57/2018 u/s 148, 247, 307, 336 RPC in Police Station Magam and investigations into it has been initiated and culprits involved into the incident will be nabbed soon,” the officer said.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep anguish and shock over the death of the tourist.
The Chief Minister visited the Police hospital late evening met the family of the deceased and expressed solidarity with them in this time of grief .
This young man from Chennai died in my constituency & while I don’t support these goons, their methods or their ideology I’m deeply, deeply sorry that this happened at all & that too in an area I’ve been proud to represent since 2014.
“We’ve killed a tourist by throwing stones at the vehicle he was travelling in. Let’s try and wrap our heads around the fact that we stoned a tourist, a guest, to death while we glorify these stone pelters & their methods,” Omar Abdullah tweeted.
“I’m also pained to know that among the injured from the stone pelting in Narbal is a young woman from Handwara in North Kashmir. I pray she & the others injured make a quick recovery,” Omar added.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) and one of the key members of the joint resistance leadership said that he was deeply saddened by the news of death of a tourist due to stone pelting. “Condemn such hooliganism and http://rowdiness.It is totally against our ethos of treating tourists as respected guests and brings a bad name to the peoples movement,” Mirwaiz tweeted.
