Protests erupt in Educational institutions in Srinagar

Srinagar: Protests erupted in various educational institutions including Kashmir University, Amar Singh College, Bemina Degree college over the South Kashmir killings on Thursday. Protests were held in Boys and Girls HR Secondary school soura.

Clashes between youth and police erupted near Amar Singh college. Youth took to streets and pelted stones on Jammu and Kashmir police, resulting in spontaneous closure of business Establishments in the area around Amar singh college.

While similar protests erupted in the Government degree college bemina.

“girls and boys of two higher secondary schools in soura took out a rally and protested against the killings in South Kashmir and Kangan,” eye witnesses said.

“Girls protest marched and raised slogans like We want freedom,” they said.

According to reports students in large number gathered and raised slogans against the government while pro freedom slogans too were raised.

Protests erupted in the Kashmir University as well.  According to reports students marched through the university campus and raised anti India and pro freedom slogans.

Educational institutions were opened in Srinagar district after remaining closed for three days after 20 people were killed in South kashmir’s two districts in three different anti militancy operations.

13 militants, 4 civilians, and three army men were killed in the incidents on Sunday, while one boy from ganderbal district succumbed to injuries after being injured.
