Tral: The locals of Tral villages in Pulwama have expressed resentment against authorities for failing to clear the water canals which have turned into garbage sites and the irrigation department has stopped the water flow to them as well.

Locals in Dadasara areas of Tral have complained that Irrigation Department has stopped water flow to these canals and diverted it to other water bodies at Batagund village of Tral.

“We have been facing a lot of problems with no intervention from authorities concerned. It is right time for authorities to clear the garbage from these canals, besides allowing water back to these canals,” locals said.

They said that, at least these people should be stopped at the earliest before it will affect the whole village.

EXN Irrigation Division, Tral, Nisar Ahmad Kar told INS that the water level was low due to which they couldn’t divert water towards these canals, adding that he will talk to concerned departments to help them in cleaning these canals.

“Will send a team to check the situation there and will take strict action against erring residents,” Kar said.
