Over JRL call shutdown being observed

Srinagar: Complete shutdown is being observed on Tuesday as well, after Joint Resistance leadership asked people to, against the killing of militants and civilians in District Shopian and Anantnag on Sunday.

13 militant and four civilians were killed during ‘anti militancy operation’ that were conducted by Government forces which began in the intervening night of Sat-Sunday and concluded on Sunday afternoon.

While authorities put restrictions at movement of people at various places across Kashmir, they have also suspended internet services since Sunday.

Business establishments, offices and schools are closed. Public transport is off the roads.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik Monday extended the strike against the killings by a day and stated that the Hurriyat leaders would move towards the Shopian on April 4.

Meanwhile, Districts of Doda and Kishtwar and areas of Banihal are also observing a shutdown. Train services between Baramulla and Bannihal remains suspended while  education department have ordered the closure of schools and colleges on Tuesday.

Kashmir University also postponed all the exams scheduled on Tuesday and suspended the class work as a precautionary measure.
