Narrow Escape For Many People On Picnic After Landslide In Bungus Valley Kupwara

Kupwara, June 13: A number of people had a narrow escape after a landslide in Bungus Valley, which lies at an altitude of around 10,000ft above sea level, in the northern part of district Kupwara.
Official sources said that a one youth identified as Aqib Ahmad suffered minor injuries in the incident.
A huge number of people from different parts of the Valley were on picnic when the incident occurred.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din said that a resue team has been deputed to the area.
Sources said that people had opted towards Chowkibal area to reach the Bungus Valley, one of the relatively unknown areas of Kashmir with vast tourism potential. It has a unique ecological combination comprising a mountain biome, which includes grassland biome with flora at lower altitudes and Taiga or Coniferous forest.
It is surrounded by Rajwar and Mawar in the east, Shamasbury and Dajlungun Mountains in the west and Chowkibal and Karnah Guli in the north.
