Militant killed, another arrested in Dialgam; 3 soldiers injured in gunfights at two places in Shopian
Anantnag/ Shopian: One militant of Hizb-ul-Mujaheen was killed and another arrested alive at Dialgam area of Anantnag while two separate gunfights between militants and government forces were going on in neighboring Shopian district in south Kashmir where three soldiers were injured.
The encounter between militants and joint team of police, CRPF and 19 RR started at Iqbal colony in Dialgam last night
Official sources said that the gunfight had ensued after militants fired upon the join team late last night. One militant was killed and another was caught alive amid reports that he accepted the surrender offer and laid down arms before the government forces.
The slain is said to be 21-year-old Rouf Bashir Khanday hailing from Dooru Anantnag district and one who was caught alive as Imran Rashid. Rouf’s picture with an AK-47 rifle had gone viral last week. Rouf a graduate had, as per picture, joined Hizbul Mujahideen in February this year. There was no official confirmation as regards identity of the slain so far.
Meanwhile two separate overnight gunfights were going on at Kachdoora and Dragadh areas of Shopain. Two soldiers were injured at Kachdoora and another suffered bullet wounds at Dragadh, sources said, adding that all of them have been evacuated to hospital.
