South Kashmir: Seven militants killed in overnight gunbattle, protests erupt

Srinagar: In a major anti militancy operation government forces killed seven militants including top Hizbul Mujahideen commanders Draged, Sugan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
One militant was killed in Peth Dialgam area of Anantnag while police claimed another surrendered during the operation when asked to lay down arms.
“One terrorist killed in Dialgam Anantnag after efforts of his family/ J&K Police failed to surrender, one caught alive,”DGP, S P Vaid said in a tweet. He also said that In Draggad Shopian 7 bodies of militants have been ecovered including top commanders.
Three govt force personnel have been  wounded in the operations so far.
Reports said that massive protests erupted in various villages located adjacent to Dragad and Kachdora areas where fierce gunfights are underway since last night.

“According to sources Naveed Jut, who escaped from CJ might also be among the killed including  Saddam padder and Zeenat Ul Islam,” sources said.

Reports say that at least ten civilian have been injured in the protests while one is feared dead after receiving bullet injury, official confirmation is awaited.

Sources also confided that three youth were detained in kokapora area at around 11:45 pm during nocturnal raids.
