Sundarbani: A gunfight between militants and government forces started at in Sodhra village of Sunderbani on Wednesday.

The gunfight broke out after a gunshots were fired by CRPF personnel after witnessing suspicious movement.

While CRPF official denied any attack on the camp, police and army launched search operation in the area.

“The sentry fired three shots and then there was lull,” sources said.

According to sources during the search operation three bags of ammunition and explosives were recovered.

“There were speculative fires and no contact with militants was established,” sources said.

However SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas was quoted by a news gathering agency that : “A brief gunfight broke out and it was stopped for now. The operation is underway.”

The schools in the area have already been closed by the district administration in Sunderbani sector as a precautionary measure.
