Soldier, SOG man killed in Kupwara gunfight

Srinagar: A soldier and a personnel from special operation group of police were killed and three other government personnel were injured in an ongoing encounter with militants at Halmatpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.

The encounter in the area is going since yesterday after a joint team of SOG and army launched a joint cordon-and-search operation following the presence of militants in the area.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Rather and SOG man as Mohammad Yousuf (SPO). Both were critically injured and taken to medical institute at nearby army camp.
