Residents assembled in front of PDD office accusing department of ‘adopting delaying tactics in repairing the defunct transformer and restoring electricity in the area’.

“We are facing immense hardships due to lack of electricity in the area since four months. We are using lanterns, and candles,” Manzoor Ahmad, a resident told INS.

The protesting residents claimed that despite governments orders of providing new transformer to the area ‘they are yet to get the old transformer back’.

“Is it a crime to demand electricity. Why are they so enthusiastic of keeping us without basic amenity,” protesters said.

“we received a letter for issuing new transformer from Minister, but we are waiting for approval of said order so that new transformer will be installed in the area,” official in PDD Sopore division told INS wishing anonymity.
