Kupwara: A dead body was found lying in a nallah in Magray Mohalla, Batergam of this north Kashmir district on Thursday.
Locals found the body lying along roadside at Batergam and informed police who immediately visited the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Aziz Peer, 70, son of Abdul Jabbar Peer resident of Hirri Payeen, Kupwara.
The family has denied sending the body for post-mortem saying Aziz had been sick for the past some time. They took the body home for performing his last rites.
Police has registered a case in this regard and investigation has been taken up.
