Jammu: An army soldier injured in Pakistani firing on Sunday along LoC in Poonch district succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The soldier Naik Jagadish (34) hailing from Chamoli district in Uttarakhand had sustained grievous splinter injuries due to “unprovoked” firing by Pakistan on Krishna Ghato sector, an army officer said.
Jagadish was immediately evacuated and provided intensive medical care in military hospital, he added.
However, despite all efforts the gallant soldier succumbed to his injuries in the early hours on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife and two young children, the officer said.
The officer said since Wednesday last, as many as 13 people including seven civilians and six troops including 2 BSF and 4 army soldiers were killed and over 65 others injured in Pakistan shelling and firing.
