Jammu: Government on Friday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua district of Jammu region.
Soon after the opposition members staged protest over the murder of Asifa Bano daughter of Mohammad Yousf Pujwla in Rasana village, the minister for Parliamentary affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the house that government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
He said the Deputy Commissioner concerned will conduct the inquiry and that the guilty will be punished strictly.
The girl had gone missing since past week and was found dead in Rasana village of Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district, police said on Thursday.
The family and relatives of the girl staged protest demanding swift investigation into the case and arrest of culprit(s).
Police also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the case.
