Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly session started on Wednesday with noisy scenes with opposition parties – National Conference and Congress cornering government over the innocent killings and “human right violations” in Kashmir.
After continuous anti-government slogans and heated exchange of words, NC staged walk out. The independent MLA from Langate, Er Rasheed, was also marshaled out from the house.
Later, NC and Congress leaders/members raised same issue with the Speaker to which the senior PDP leader and minister for parliamentary affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri said that government has ordered a judicial probe in Tuesday’s killing of a civilian.
The former chief minister and NC working president Omar Abdullah said while the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the killing of a civilian through press, she should condemn the same in the house. He walked out along with other members.
MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said the chief minister when in opposition used to highlight the AFSPA, PSA and other controversial Acts but is “mum” after assuming the chair of power.
He said the “corruption and land grabbing” is taking place and informed the house that “13 lakh kanal of land has been encroached by public with the help of top brass of police and other bureaucrats; and government did nothing which indicates the corruption is on top level in our state”.
“The day is not far when PDP will sit again in opposition due to its total failure,” Tarigami said.
He said that (resistance leader and Muslim League chairman) Masarat Alam has been given “top degrees of PSA”.
MLA Kulgam also raised the issue of NHPC projects. “The government has forgotten these projects while the people of the state continue to suffer,” he said.
