Sopore: Normal life remained affected in this north Kashmir town on Wednesday due to strike call given by the Traders Federation Sopore against the “administration’s failure to stop the rising cases of theft” in the Apple Town – the Asia’s second largest fruit mandi.
Traders Federation Sopore president Haji Mohammad Ashraf Ganai had on Tuesday said the local administration has “completely failed” to control the theft cases in the Town which are increasing with each passing day.
The call for shutdown was given soon after 12 shops were gutted “after burglary” in a fire incident at general bus stand Sopore.
All shops and other business establishments are closed in the town; however public transport is plying smoothly on all routes.
Meanwhile, Sopore Police on late Tuesday night registered two FIRs (2/2018 and 3/2018) in the burglary and blaze incidents.
The trade body also staged a peaceful protest at main chowk Sopore on Wednesday.
